Can you believe Christmas is just a couple days a way?! Time has flown by.
Today is another 2 for 1 craft project, with both Krafty Kath and I doing our own take on festive napkin rings. Both ideas are easy, quick and add a special detail to your holiday table settings.
DIY napkin rings
Each napkin ring should take about 5 minutes to make, not including paint drying time.
Materials
- Tree medallions (I got mine from Church House Woodworks)
- Wood veneer tree and star shapes (Studio Calico)
- Paint or Glimmer Mists in green and gold (Mister Huey’s)
- Ribbon
- Glue gun
- Cardboard box (optional)
- Parchment paper (optional)
Step 1
Line a cardboard box with parchment paper. Place your tree veneers in the center of the paper. Shake your glimmer mist to mix it up. From several inches away, spray an even coat on the veneers.
I was going for a wood stained look so I kept the spray bottle farther from the veneers and dabbed them with a paper towel afterward to remove excess paint.
Step 2
Repeat step 1 for the star veneers. Set all veneers aside to dry (approximately 30 minutes).
Step 3
Now we will adhere the veneers to the tree medallions. Place a dab of glue in the center of the medallion. Center the tree veneer on the medallion and press. (If your medallion has a hole like mine, cover it with the top of the tree.)
Step 4
Place a small dab of glue on the backside of the star. Flip it around and place it at the top of the tree. Press and hold to allow it to set.
Step 5
To attach the ribbon, place a dab of glue on the back of the tree medallion in the center. Center the ribbon on the glue with the front of the ribbon facing the front of the medallion. Quickly flip it over and adjust as needed so that it is aligned with the center of the medallion.
Step 6
To fix it to your napkin, wrap it around the center of the napkin and tie a knot. Trim any excess ribbon.
Tip: If you need to learn how to fold a napkin like I did, watch How To Set Up Napkin Rings with Luigi Spotorno, master napkin folder. It’s easy to follow and Luigi is adorbs in his white jacket with red bow tie and cummerbund.
Ooh-la-la you just made a festive napkin ring!
Fold a nice napkin and tuck a spring of juniper for a finished look.
