Today I start two new things. This weekly series, Fresh Start, which is about having a positive view of the week ahead, and a French language class. The latter is in preparation for a trip we’ll be taking later this year to Paris. It is also the inspiration for this week’s Fresh Start.
Paris was never on my shortlist of places to go but ever since we decided we would, I’ve become more and more excited. Here are just a few of the things I’m looking forward to seeing and doing while we are there.
As the trip nears, I’ll be sharing more details of our plans. If you have a favorite place in Paris, do tell!
The markets and shops
I could spend the entire trip going to the multitude of farmers markets and flea markets all generously listed in the guidebooks, Markets of Paris and Antique & Flea Markets of London & Paris.
I can’t wait to check out all the stationery, art supply and notion stores recommended in Paris: An Inspiring Tour of the City’s Creative Heart.
The food
While I could stay full on croissants, I will save room for amazing cafés and restaurants like the ones recommended by Oh Happy Day and Design Sponge.
Feeling giddy just thinking about stepping inside Ladurée for some decadent macaroons.
The photographers
It’s hard to imagine how it will feel to walk the same streets and photograph the same places as Henri Cartier-Bresson, one of the true masters of photography.
It’s a good a time as any to learn about other french photographers like Robert Doisneau and Florence Henri.
Have a great week!
