Oh, Versailles. What a magnificent place…so much so that it draws huge crowds and with it huge, long lines. I knew I wouldn’t have the place to myself but it hasn’t been since my visit to the Sistine Chapel that I was packed in so tightly with so many strangers. Many of them pushy and many more stopping in awkward spots so that their audio guide could tell them all about the room and objects they were barely able to see.
Suffice it to say, I didn’t much enjoy the palace but the gardens were much nicer. I walked around quite a bit enjoying another beautiful day and some alone time. While I didn’t take many more pictures than the ones you see here, all in all I am glad to have gone but have no plans to return anytime soon!
Tomorrow is May Day and so many places will be closed. Most likely the day will include long walks around the city…as well as a hearty nap!
