On this, our last day in Paris, we headed to the Musée des Arts Forains, a museum housing a private collection of carnival games and rides. It was a ton of fun with many chances to play the antique games, ride the carousels – including a human-powered one that was all bikes – and even some song and dance!
After the museum, we headed to Galeries Lafayette, a massive upscale department store with an exquisite Art Nouveau, stain glass dome. Among the many high-end designers, there is also a food market where we picked up a few remaining gifts.
The other parts of our day included walking around, discovering new streets and enjoying the beautiful weather. In the evening we joined the workshop group for a farewell dinner at Le Polidor, a 100+ year old restaurant that was featured in the movie Midnight in Paris.
After saying our final goodbyes we took a leisurely walk back to the hotel, past Shakespeare & Co. (where we stopped for a quick look) and past Notre Dame. We followed our path along the Seine where we picked up some rhubarb and mango ice cream cones from one of the many les glaciers (ice cream shops), before finally arriving at the hotel where we started the daunting task of finding room in our luggage for all our new treasures!
All in all, a lovely end to a wonderful trip.
See you back stateside shortly!
