In honor of National Doughnut Day, our usual weekly review is being taken over by these glazed, sugared, and creamed treasures! A good doughnut can brighten the gloomiest days and pursuing the next best bite is a fun and noble trek 🙂
Last year while I was at Alt Summit in New York, I made my coworker wake up early to stand in line for one of the infamous cronuts at Dominique Ansel Bakery. We arrived at 7:30 a.m. but didn’t stand a chance at snagging one of those coveted creations. We waited with misplaced hope anyway but were eventually turned away empty-handed. It was at Alt that I first met Ellen Foord from Minnow & Co. She’s a bright and inviting person with a killer website too boot. It wasn’t too long after meeting her that I began to lament my cronut heartbreak and wouldn’t you know it but it was just around that time that she had cracked the cronut case with her own fauxnut recipe (top right above). How serendipitous! A good doughnut always manages to find it’s way into my belly!
So on this most awesome day, I invite you to put away the scale and join me for an ooey, gooey doughnut…or two!
