Oh boy. It’s been a bit of a dustbowl over here hasn’t it? Sorry for the absence. I had great ambitions for July but as usual it’s proven one of the busiest months out of the year. Between weddings, holidays and days lost to the slow, dragging heat, I haven’t had much time to dig into DIY crafting.
That said, I am excited to share that we’ll be moving to a new place in September – complete with a dedicated craft room – so I’ll surely have no excuses then! I am SO excited!
About this quote…
I’ve got a stack Offscreen back issues that I thumb through every now and then. This week, I read a short piece by Ash Huang called Tiny Gods (issue No. 6). In it she talks about the digital and physical worlds we live in and how important it is to step away from the screen and enjoy the real world. That the real world is what fuels and gives purpose to our digital worlds. For someone who – most days – spends more than half her waking hours in front of a screen, I can appreciate the importance of these words.
Here’s the full quote:
“So take a small break from your screens. Explore the world around you. Find something unfamiliar and beautiful and let your heart ache. As a maker, part of your duty is to bring the best of our imperfect world into the malleable 0’s and 1’s that we’re building together.”
Here’s to a fresh week with a little less screen time and a little more ‘being’ time.
