Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. It’s hard to put into a few short words the impact and import of his work as a civil rights leader. He exercised courage and determination each and every day and on a level few of us will ever experience. He did so to for the promise of a better future he would never get to see. And yet for all that his work has done and all the work he continues to inspire, we still have so much more to do. This year, it is my hope that injustices toward Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, and Eric Garner do not become a continuing pattern of violence but rather a shared and conscious path toward awareness, action and progress.
