It’s a solemn day here in Seattle after the Seahawks lost yesterday to the Patriots. I don’t pretend to watch or care much for football, but I do feel for all the disappointed fans. I’ve never lived in a place with such enthusiastic fans but I’m sure they’ll have their time again soon enough.
To start this week off on a more inspired note, today’s quote is about embracing change. As much as I like things to stay put, I know that change is an important and necessary part of life. It permeates all parts of life. From work and home to goals and relationships.
At work, change most often is the result of ambiguity. A term that I’ve come to know all too well these past few years. Vague strategies or requirements quickly lead to changes in both. On tinsel + trim, change comes in a more rewarding package. Over time it takes shape and reveals itself as improvements. Looking at my posts a year ago compared with today, I can see the work evolving slowly but surely. It all has to do with little changes across the board. Small changes in how I photograph and stage projects to incremental improvements in my writing and publishing calendar.
This blog has taught me many of life’s little lessons and allowed me to be more open to unexpected detours. I think that’s one of the most important things we all get out of side projects and creative outlets—personal growth and adaptability.
Here’s to a week well-lived and one—should it present a fork in the road—that embraces change.
