The attribution of this quote is a bit fuzzy for me. It’s widely attributed to Martin Luther King, Jr., though a similar quote—one from which this might be a derivative—comes from Napoleon Hill, a self-help pioneer of the 19th century. Regardless, it’s one that resonates with me. I’m not on a path for greatness. I won’t be a world leader. I won’t be renowned within my profession. I won’t even be known by a large number of people. In other words, I’m entirely ordinary. But that does not mean that I can’t do my small part to make this world a better place. Whether through art, activism, or simply taking pride in my work, it’s the small contributions that carry this world forward.
What small, great thing will you do today?
