I planned to have a Martin Luther King Jr. quote today considering it’s his holiday but I couldn’t get this particular quote out of my mind. I imagine he wouldn’t mind this quote from Malala Yousafzai as it seems very much in the spirit of his own civil rights beliefs and actions. Generations and oceans apart, both Martin Luther King Jr. and Malala Yousafzai decided to stand for what they believed was right and just for their fellow citizens and at great personal cost.
This weekend I will stand, for the first time in my life, for what I believe is right and just. For me that belief is simple. It is kindness and compassion for all people no matter our differences or how little we may understand one another. It’s the least we can do and yet at this particular moment it seems we have so much to do to get there.
Warm and kind wishes for you this week.
