There are two things that have been constant throughout my life: a home with pets and the pursuit of collecting. The former has filled my life with love and companionship and the latter has led me on expeditions of curious pursuit and relished discoveries. Bringing these two things together is the first in a new series called, Curious Collections, which shares with you some of the odd collections I’ve gathered over the years. From vernacular photography of people and their pets to postcards of The Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota, each collection holds special meaning and memories for me. I hope you’ll enjoy exploring and that you’ll share some of your favorite collections as well.
This snapshot collection shows the timeless love of people and their pets. Some of these pictures date well past a hundred years and as recently as the 1970s. Among the many dogs and cats are rabbits, farm animals, and even an ostrich. Apparently, getting rides on ostriches used to be thing!
