This year will mark the fiftieth anniversary of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.’s death. On this day of remembrance, we must not only honor the work he did to move our nation forward but remind ourselves of the work we have yet to do. Reverend King’s human rights work and the messages he bore ring all too real and present in the divisive state of our nation. This quote in particular, pulled from the 1967 book, Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?, reminds us of the choice we must make for ourselves each and every day, especially on those hard days where hope seems distant and fleeting.
However you spend today, may it be with hope, love, and courage both given and received.
